Harley Towers: The First Summer

Chapter One: The Beginning.
One quiet June afternoon, Scarlett Banks was in her room with her best friend Katie Ralbum, lying on her stomach alongside her bed, on her fluffy heart shaped carpet. She was flipping through the pages of a magazine about Harley Towers. She skimmed through the words, catching glimpses of short excerpts from sentences like “The best indoor summer camp ever!” or “As big as a mansion!” “I wish we could go there this summer.” Katie gushed as she pointed to some pictures of indoor horse stables, swimming pools, and hot tubs. “Yeah, but there is no way our parents will let us go.” Scarlett said, mournfully. “My mother would probably be like...” She went up to a high pitched voice “‘Indoor Summer Camp? My gosh! You girls need to get some sunlight! Besides, you are too young for sleepaway camp. Only ten years old!’” The girls sighed. Scarlett flipped to a page that showed the girls’ bunks. The walls were a beautiful melon color, and the beds each had a pink, silk canopy and lovely rose pink sheets that said “Harley Towers” in large, fancy letters. Above the text, there was a golden crown, and according to the magazine, it would have the registrant’s name on it. At the foot of each bed, there was a white, glossy tray with a baby pink bathrobe, three bars of soap, and a soft crown just like the ones on the sheets. The girls wanted to stare at the pictures some more, but were interrupted by a juvenile, drooling creature, who had a hand in his mouth, and was holding a plastic toy car in the other hand. “Lester!” Scarlett scolded. “How many times have I told you to knock?” She said, looking at her brother, who was now blowing raspberries with his tiny mouth and giggling. He was followed by Scarlett’s older sister, who was supposed to be babysitting the kids. She had her phone, and was texting one of her boring highschool friends. “Come on Lester!” she said without looking up and held her hand in the air, supposing the baby would grab on. But she was wrong. Lester had his own plans. He was at the other side of the room, now attempting to eat one of Scarlett’s favorite figurines. Scarlett hurried over to her brother, and grabbed the figurine before someone had to go to the hospital. She lifted him up and rested his backside on her arm and walked to the door of her room. “No pulling my hair.” Scarlett said as she yanked away the toddler’s hand from her silky dark brown hair. Scarlett’s sister didn’t budge. She was so engrossed in her phone, that she hardly paid any attention to her siblings, who she was supposed to be watching after.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Scarlett dashed down the stairs with the clapping one year old, which wasn’t easy. She opened the door. There her mother was, with a surprised look on her face. “What-why?” she stammered. “Okay, number one. Why is your brother with you and not your sister? Number two, where is your sister? Number three, Where is Katie?” She asked as she stepped inside, and took her sunglasses off. Her mother was a slim, petite woman, with amber hair and dark brown eyes. She was wearing a light blue sundress, and white sandals. She stood there with her hands on her hips, waiting for an answer. “Lester is with me because Gerelda is upstairs, on her phone and not looking after him. Katie is also upstairs.” Scarlett states, satisfied. “GERELDAAAAA!” Her mother hollers. “Lester, come here darling, who’s a good boy?” she coos to the cranky toddler. Scarlett takes that as a signal to go upstairs. Katie is waiting there. She has a notepad and pen in her hand. “Okay, so this is the plan to let our parents agree to send us to Harley Towers.” she informed. “Plan A.” “Woah, woah, woah. Hold it right there.” Scarlett said. “How many plans do you have, exactly?” “All the way to plan Z.” Katie said, showing Scarlett her notes. “Why don’t we start with just plans A, B, and C. If those don’t work, then we will go over plans D and E. What is plan A?” She asked. “Plan A.” Katie repeated. “Simply ask our parents and see if they agree!.” she said. “Amazing plan! And how exactly are we supposed to do that!” Scarlett said sarcastically. “Simple. All we have to do is gather them together, then show them the magazine. Tell them all about it and all the supplies it has.” Katie tells her. “Okay! Let’s do this!” Scarlett said as she pumped a fist in the air.
